Record Campaign Contributions By California Trial Lawyers Reported

March 9, 1999 - California trial lawyers contributed a total of $10.3 million to California candidates and parties in statewide and legislative races in the 1997-98 election cycle, the Civil Justice Association of California (CJAC) reported today. Of the total, $9.8 million was contributed directly to candidates and $500,000 was given indirectly to candidates through political parties. The Association's research last November revealed $8.6 million in direct contributions to statewide and legislative candidates. The additional $1.2 million came in the late contributions reported after the first of this year.

Trial Lawyers Pump More Than $2.8 Million Into California Legislative Races

October 19, 1998 - California legislative candidates and incumbents have received more than $2.8 million in political campaign contributions from plaintiff's trial lawyers as of September 30.

State Legislative Candidates Receive Nearly $2 Million From Trial Lawyers -- So Far

September 14, 1998 - Trial lawyer 1998 campaign contributions to candidates for California Senate and Assembly seats reached just under the $2 million dollar mark before the June 30 reporting deadline, according to campaign reports reviewed by the Civil Justice Association of California. The total is expected to soar in the weeks before the November 3 General Election.
