Mistrial Declared in Class Action Suit Ford Motor Company
SACRAMENTO - "This is a case of a defective lawsuit, not a defective product," said John H. Sullivan, president of the Civil Justice Association of California (CJAC). "Lawyers who throw a scrambled mess of baseless allegations and hypothetical harms into the legal system should not be surprised when the system spits it back at them.
"It's too bad the personal injury lawyers who filed this junk lawsuit have wasted the precious time of jurors and have frittered away our tax dollars on what really amounted to their prospecting venture."
Sullivan noted that despite the lawyers who brought the case acting as though they were doing something for public safety, they in fact had asked National Highway Traffic Safety Administration not to investigate or recall cars with the ignition systems that were the basis for their lawsuit.
"The public is getting tired fast of being told by lawyers they are suing to help them when it's clear that the lawyers are really suing to take home huge fees."
