Bakersfield Californian
Letter to the Editor

Dianne Hardisty’s Saturday column (Money Can’t Buy Love, Just Votes, February 23) turned a revealing spotlight on the dismal money situation in Assembly District 30. Our tracking shows that as of Monday (February 25), personal injury lawyers and other lawyers all across the state had poured more than $229,000 into support for candidate Nicole Parra. She reported receiving a total of $114,000 in campaign money from all other sources.

The trial lawyers are trying to buy control, plain and simple.

These lawyers are working their big money stealth scheme all over the state through deceptively-named front groups. If their candidates win, these lawyers won’t be cruising the Capitol halls looking for love, just votes.

And all California consumers and taxpayers will be the losers.

Sincerely,

John H. Sullivan
President
Civil Justice Association of California
