John Doherty, President

John Doherty, prior to joining CJAC, was responsible for remaking, managing and expanding a fifty state advocacy and political team for the technology industry at TechNet as their Vice President of State Policy and Politics and General Counsel.

Marva Diaz, Vice President of Political Affairs

Marva Diaz, Vice President of Political Affairs

Marva Diaz serves as CJAC’s Vice President of Political Affairs. With over 17 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, she has successfully worked on over 100 bills and collaborated on over 600 campaigns, ranging from internal corporate campaigns to gubernatorial races.

Faith Conley, Vice President of Government Affairs

Faith Conley is the Vice President of Government Affairs for the Civil Justice Association of California, leading the development and execution of the Association’s legislative and regulatory agendas.

Micah Scheindlin, Political Director

Micah Scheindlin, Political Director

Micah Scheindlin serves as CJAC’s Political Director. He previously spent over 5 years as a consultant at one of California's pre-eminent political campaign firms, where was involved in every facet of strategy and execution for state and local ballot measures, independent expenditures, and candidate campaigns.

Fred J. Hiestand, General Counsel

Fred J. Hiestand, General Counsel

Fred J. Hiestand, CJAC General Counsel, manages the Appellate Program. Mr. Hiestand has nearly 30 years of appellate experience. He participates in oral arguments before the state Supreme Court in cases where CJAC has filed an amicus brief and is consulted by appellate attorneys preparing cases for argument.

Danielle Deveau-Sires, Legislative & Membership Deputy

Danielle Deveau-Sires serves as both the Legislative Deputy and Membership Deputy for the Civil Justice Association.

Debbie Edgar, Finance and Operations Manager

Debbie Edgar, Finance and Operations Manager

Debbie Edgar joined the CJAC team in 1995 as the Assistant to the President. Edgar is responsible for managing the support staff, overseeing membership development, financial tracking, budget preparation, the annual audit, retirement and benefit programs, and compliance with workplace regulations.
